Effective date: 2 October 2026
Baby Buddy (“the app”) is made by Chelsea Farley (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and the choices you have.
The short version: everything you record about your baby and your family stays on your device. We don’t run servers, we don’t have accounts, and we never see, collect or sell your tracking data. The app uses Google AdMob to show ads (unless you remove them), and Apple or Google to handle purchases. Those services receive limited device information, as described below.
1. Information you enter
Baby Buddy lets you record information such as:
- Your children’s names, dates of birth, due dates, sex, birth weight and length, and profile photos
- Feeds, bottles, pumping, nappies, sleep, growth measurements, foods and allergen introductions, reactions, milestones, medicines given, illness notes, memories and notes
- Optional parent wellbeing entries (water, mood, sleep, meals) and your name or family name
- Photos you take or choose for entries, milestones and memories
Where it is stored: only on your device, inside the app’s private storage. We do not transmit this information to ourselves or to any third party, and we have no way to access it.
Device backups: your phone may include the app’s data in its own system backup (for example iCloud Backup on iPhone or Google backup on Android), depending on your device settings. Those backups are handled by Apple or Google under their privacy policies, not by us.
Backups made by the app: Baby Buddy keeps automatic backup copies in its private storage on your device. If you choose “Save a backup file”, the app creates a file containing your data and photos and opens your device’s share sheet. Where that file goes (for example Files, Google Drive or email) is your choice, and it is then handled by that service. Backup files are not encrypted by the app, so store them somewhere you trust.
Sharing and export: when you export a CSV, share a summary report or share a photo, the content goes only where you send it.
2. Apple Watch and Wear OS companion apps
If you use the watch app, the phone and watch exchange a small summary (such as your children’s names, last feed time, running timers and recent medicine names) and the quick logs you make on the watch. This uses Apple’s WatchConnectivity framework or Google’s Wearable Data Layer. Data travels between your own devices and is not sent to us. Apple or Google may relay it through their services when the devices aren’t directly connected, under their privacy policies.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Unless you buy “Remove ads”, the app shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect information such as:
- Your IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Device type, operating system, language and app version
- Advertising identifiers (the Google Advertising ID on Android, and on iPhone the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), only if you allow tracking)
- Ad interactions such as views and taps
Your baby’s tracking data is never sent to advertisers. Ad requests do not include anything you have entered in the app.
Your choices:
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and other regions where required): the app shows Google’s consent form before personalised ads are used. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad privacy choices.
- iPhone tracking permission: before ads are first shown, iOS asks whether Baby Buddy may track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites. If you allow it, Google can use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) to show more relevant ads and measure them. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, the IDFA is not shared and you will still see ads, just less personalised ones. You can change your choice any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. You won’t be asked if you have bought “Remove ads”.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device’s Google settings.
- Remove ads: a one-time purchase stops all ads in the app.

4. Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases (“Remove ads” and the “Watch app” subscription) are processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive your name, email address or payment details. The app asks the store on your device whether a purchase or subscription is active, and saves that status locally. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your App Store or Google Play account settings.
5. Ratings
If you choose to rate the app, the rating prompt is provided by Apple or Google. We do not receive any personal information from it.
6. Device permissions
The app asks for permissions only when needed for a feature you use:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera / Photos | To take or attach photos to entries, milestones and memories. Photos are copied into the app’s private storage on your device. |
| Notifications | To show reminders you set (feeds, medicine, pumping, photos). Reminders are scheduled on your device. |
| Files | To choose a backup file when restoring. |
You can change permissions any time in your device settings.
7. Health information
Some information you record (such as feeds, growth, medicines and illness) may be health-related. It stays on your device. We do not use it for advertising, research or any other purpose, and we do not share it with anyone. Baby Buddy is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.
8. Children’s privacy
Baby Buddy is designed for parents and caregivers aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Information about a child is entered by their parent or caregiver and stays on that adult’s device.
9. Keeping or deleting your information
Because your information is stored only on your device, you control it:
- Edit or delete individual entries in the app at any time
- Delete everything with Settings › Delete all data
- Uninstalling the app removes its data and its on-device backups from the device (copies in system backups or backup files you saved elsewhere are not affected)
We cannot recover your data for you, because we never have a copy.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, the Australian Privacy Act or US state privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal information. Since we don’t hold any of your app data, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app. For information collected by Google AdMob, Apple or Google, please use their privacy tools or contact them. You can also contact us with any question.
We do not sell your personal information. The only “sharing” for advertising is the device information Google AdMob collects as described above (including the IDFA on iPhone if you allow tracking), which you can control through the consent and tracking options or stop entirely by buying “Remove ads”.
11. Security
Your data is kept in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read, and is protected by your device’s own security (passcode, biometrics and encryption). Please keep your device secure and store exported backup files safely.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or on the store listing.
